Usually, my reoccurring nightmares involve some tangible, albeit unlikely, stress of mine: my teeth crumble in my mouth, I get pregnant, I forget my Santa outfit as I am about to speak at graduation… you know, things that could actually happen. And I wake up with my shoulders taut, and I’m breathing heavy.

But my other reoccurring dreams are about You Know Who. I dream about Voldemort often. And whenever I wake from those dreams, rather than feeling antsy and stressed, I wake from these dreams thinking, “That was awesome.”

It started freshman year of college, which was strange because there was no special influx of Harry Potter in my life. The seventh book was already out and the sixth movie was still in production. But every night I would dream up a “new chapter” of Harry Potter, and I was this androgynous Harry/Hermione hybrid, and somehow I always came just a little short of vanquishing Voldemort. I had these dreams nightly.

I had one last night too (you know, almost six years later). Sometimes when Jeremy and I wake up in the middle of a REM cycle, we get brief glimpses into what each other was dreaming about.

Before “Good Morning,” or even a grumble about waking up, I announced to Jeremy, eyes closed, “Voldemort was gay.”

“No he wasn’t, Sierra.” Jeremy responded logically. “Voldemort is incapable of feeling any human emotion except hatred. Voldemort doesn’t know how to love.”

“No!” I said, waking a little. “Tonight Voldemort was gay, and if he was capable of feeling love, I just couldn’t kill him. I’ve failed again.”

Jeremy laughed and said, “Trust you to make Voldemort into a sympathetic character. You and your diplomacy.”

So Dream Voldemort, you live to see another day. But tonight…Dark Lord, you’re going down.
Image Source, And if you’re wondering, of course, I tried to photoshop my face onto Harry’s.
I gave up after twenty minutes, realizing that I did not want to devote an hour to my insane
nerdiness. Also the only picture I had of my face in profile was from the wedding. So it didn’t look
menacing enough. Although, I invite anyone with photoshop abilities to have a go at it.

ALSO: Take a look at the new addition to my sidebar! Jeremy made me a Pinterest Scorecard, where I can keep track of all my “Hit or Miss Moments”in the Pinterest World. Kinda neat, huh?

Can I tell you that we are now best friends?

After seeing the last HP I had a nightmare and woke up during it (don't really remember, but husband reported later) and told the space in front of me to "hand me his wand" like Voldemort does in the movie. I am nuts.

Yes! I literally just barely finished reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Also, am I the only one who has noticed that common Harry Potter names and places are a part of Blogger's vocabulary? Azkaban and Dumbledore and other various things don't get a red line beneath them. Maybe they carry other meanings that I'm not aware of, but I think it's proof that the wizarding community is real.
